Stories are powerful things. They can teach us, inspire us, entertain us, instill courage and reveal resilience. A favorite story can comfort us when we’re feeling down or facing a new challenge. Like a good friend, they are reliable, they give us hope, they can bring a smile to our face on even the darkest days. Below, we’ve compiled our list of best books about bravery for kids. These are some of our favorite titles and children’s books that teach courage and inspire bravery in kids.

9 of the Best Books about Bravery for Kids:

  • A Good Deed Can Grow by Jennifer Chambliss Bertram
  • Brave Like Me by Christine Peck
  • Salt in His Shoes by Deloris Jordan
  • Find Your Brave by Apryl Stott
  • When You Are Brave by Pat Zietlow Miller
  • The Way Champs Play by Naomi Osaka
  • Braver Than Brave by Janet Sumner Johnson
  • Brave Every Day by Trudy Ludwig
  • I Love You More Than the Moon and All the Stars by John Otten

At Brave Like Me, we’ve seen firsthand the impact that a book can have on a kids’ attitude and experience. Through our Brayden’s Books program, we provide a collection of books to children and their caregivers at Ronald McDonald Houses and hospitals nationwide. These empowering books for young readers offer hope, strength and encouragement for kids facing hospital stays and medical challenges. Our goal is simple: we want every child to have a book they can keep forever that will inspire courage and resilience, compassion and friendship. We are proud to have partnered with 20+ RMD locations to provide our Brayden’s Books collection, with more locations to come.
